Dromana is two suburbs stacked on top of each other. Along the foreshore and Point Nepean Road the ground is flat and the housing is a mix of sixties and seventies holiday stock, much of it now being rebuilt. Behind that, the land climbs quickly toward Arthurs Seat, and the blocks up there are a different job entirely, with cut-and-fill, long driveways and stormwater to manage.
A quick note on who we are. We do not pour concrete ourselves. We are a referral service, and we pass your job to experienced, insured local concreters who work across Dromana and the surrounding streets.
Common concreting jobs in Dromana
- Replacing cracked driveways on older holiday houses near the foreshore
- Sloped driveways with grip finishes on the blocks climbing the hill
- Concrete slabs for garages, sheds and new studios on rebuild sites
- Paths and patios and pool surrounds on new builds
- Repairs where water running off the hill has undermined a base
How the process works
Tell us about the job and your suburb. We pass the details to a local concreter who services Dromana, and they call you back with a quote. There is no fee for the referral.
If your block is on the hill side, ask the concreter to walk the fall line with you before quoting. Where the water sheets in a storm decides where the grates go.
What concreting costs in Dromana
As a guide, plain concrete typically costs around $75 to $150 per square metre laid, exposed aggregate and decorative more. Flat foreshore blocks usually price at the easier end. Anything on the rise behind the highway may need a pump, extra excavation and drainage work. See the cost guide for the full breakdown.
In Victoria, building work is regulated by the Victorian Building Authority and by councils. What applies to your job depends on its type, size and location, so ask the concreter to set out registration and permits in writing.
Frequently asked questions
My holiday house driveway is cracked everywhere. Repair or replace?
Widespread cracking usually means the base has failed, and patching will not hold. Ask for both prices and compare the repour against the repair.
Can work go ahead while we are not there?
Yes. The concreters we refer are used to working for owners who visit on weekends. Agree a photo record of the base and the pour before they start.
Do hill blocks need a pump?
Often. If the truck cannot reach the formwork, pump hire goes in the quote as its own line.
